The Dinner Knives have polished steel Russian blades, marked Varipaev under a double headed eagle Imperial mark. The set shows normal wear consistent with age and use. One of the knives has a dent on the back of the handle. All pieces are of good weight and the set is perfectly usable. Monogrammed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The steel knife blades have been polished. It features highly detailed applied decorative boars heads in profile on the sides and it rests upon four wild boar piglets. Made in Czarist Russia by mastersilversmith and jeweler Alexander Kazimirovich Vyrzhikovsky, assayed in Kiev 1892. This rare item is fully hallmarked and has never been monogrammed. A cleverly crafted locking mechanism wont allow the box to shut and lock unless it is closed and locked by the key. It is designed to make it impossible to lock the key in the box.
